Seeking Advice on Bringing My UK LHD Car to Romania

Hello everyone,

I’m planning a move from the UK to Romania and will be establishing residency there. I have a left-hand drive (LHD) car registered in the UK that I’d like to bring with me, and I’m hoping to get some advice from those who have done something similar.

A few questions I’m hoping to get insights on:

  1. Is it possible to bring my UK-registered LHD car into Romania? I’ve lived in Serbia before and was able to keep my UK car there, but I had to return it to the UK once a year for its MOT.

  1. How often do I need to take the car out of Romania each year to comply with regulations? I’d like to avoid any issues with customs or local laws.

  1. Can I insure a UK-registered car in Romania? Any tips or recommendations for insurers who might cover a foreign-registered vehicle would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. Looking forward to hearing from those who’ve navigated this process!
