My wife and I are planning to move to Puglia within the next 12 months. We have visited on numerous occasions and decided on the area near Cisternino.

We have worked in hospitality for years and are looking find a property to host guests and a wellbeing centre.

Anyone have advice regarding self employment/startup visas?

Yhanks

My first question would be...'what visa are you applying for'?

The info online can be rather conflicting - we will be self employed and I have read about a self employment visa (nothing on the consulate website - planning an appointment with them soon).

The is also a innovative start up visa- there are several sections of this which are difficult to meet.

The Elective residency visa is for retirees so you cannot work.

We have the funds and business model - I like to have clarification before commitment.

Good luck.  We looked at a B&B a couple of years ago and binned the idea, there was no chance of getting a visa.

To get a self employed visa you will need to provide 2 or 3 years tax returns in that job.  You will need a property to rent out and all the other stuff.  Only then will they tell you if you can have a visa, which are limited no.s andentirely at the whim of the consulate staff.
