Abandoned Car

I have a very nice car abandoned in my building's car park, security tells me the guy left 18 months ago and left the car open with the key left on the seat. It is now covered in serious dust. I have tried to trace the owner, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to. Is there any way in Bahrain to legally claim the car, get a title, or renew the registration and use it ? I would be very happy to buy it if i could.

Not really sure about this, you could approach traffic directorate in isa town and seek their advice.

The process is that your building reports it to the municipality or traffic (they might bounce you between the two). They can only do that if the owner is in arrears on rent or the car has been left illegally in the building. Once it is towed, there is a long process after which it is put up for auction and at that time, you can bid on it and if successful, register and use it.

However, keep in mind that it will take a while. A friend of mine who runs many apartment buildings as part of a building management company has many similar issues and it took him 2 years to remove one car from his building.
