I'm with @Ozzy183a... there are so many 3-seaters on the IKEA and JYSK websites! With delivery direct to you in Razlog (you don't even need to go to Sofia). Just pick a different model, as your proposal is a huge amount of aggravation/cost for little or no benefit. IMHO. :-)

Hi - thanks so much for taking the time to post. My husband agrees with you 100% but I'm afraid I've got my heart set on this particular settee! Yes, there are similar, but nothing exactly the same as this one. I'm the kind of person who can spend 4 hours choosing a bath mat so a settee is a big deal........I know it will involve costs which could exceed the price of the settee, but I'm ready for that. As for aggravation - I'm hoping the person who collects this from Belgrade will bear the brunt of the aggravation and I'll just hand over the cash. So if anyone has a van and a spare day and could do this, pls let me know. Thx

I don't think it will be cheap, but there should be some way of getting it moved for you.

Not an answer to your question, but what have people's experiences been like with IKEA deliveries, especially from Varna? IKEA Bg has appalling reviews, almost all about delivery issues. I was thinking to order what I need for my empty-shell kitchen, IKEA has just what I want, but those reviews really gave me second thoughts.  I might support the local kitchen shop instead. They don't have quite what I want, but at least I'll have a better chance of it arriving, and someone to go talk to if there are issues.

I've had many furniture deliveries (to our Plovdiv flat and the village house) from JYSK and IKEA with no problems at all! Similarly, it's always gone smoothly with Decathlon, Technopolis, Praktiker, and Emag. I'm racking my brain for any kind of delivery problem, but the only one I can come up with is that Praktiker (understandably) refuses to put building materials/big orders inside the property... so you have to be ready with a helper to move it all. I had a similar, and unexpected, experience with our pellet stove guys, as they left it in the street, and absolutely refused to move it (or help me move it), even when I offered a big payment for 15 minutes work. Getting that lump into the house, on my own, was no fun at all!

I know, happy wife, happy life and all that. :-)

But you're probably underestimating the difficulty and cost. For sure, it's probably 2 days not 1 day. Hotel, van, fuel. And all the drama at the Serbian border when you try to get a brand new IKEA sofa through. It might be easier if you're there to pay any charges.

Perhaps you can reconsider the option of renting a cargo van from Top-Rent-a-car (or another) for a couple of days, and driving up yourself with a helper (hubbie)? A small cargo van is no harder to drive than a car.

Ouch! I can imagine.

My worst delivery experience (so far) was when the local building merchant delivered a pile of huge OSB sheets to the front gate and refused to carry them to the house despite me offering him a nice wodge of money. Then it started to rain, and I was there on my own trying to move them enough to cover them over with a plastic sheet. Got some nice bruises from that one.

LOL, and those OSB sheets are now sitting in the front room. The old guy the neighbours arranged to do my kitchen ceiling the local way with OSB did such a bodge job the next builder pulled them down and replaced them with plasterboard.

If I order my woodstove for the kitchen from the same builders merchant, I'll have to be sure to have a bunch of helpers to carry it to the house.
