Monkey Forest Ubud

Post new topic

tsarafutdin

Hey everyone, my name is Timur, I’m a new member here, I have a question, has anyone been to the Monkey Forest in Ubud recently? I remember going there a few years ago, and it was such a cool experience. Thinking of going back when I’m in Bali next month.

Is it still the same vibe? Any changes I should know about?

Fred

It closed when a couple of tourists were killed.

It may be open again now.

@Fred

Do u have any information about when exactly they’ll be opened?

The required purification ceremony necessary under the Balinese Hindu religion took place today.

Their web site states that they are already open, but you might check first at their Facebook account:

Probably the vibe is different now. I know I won't ever go there again.

Hai Sarafutdin! maybe it would be help for you

Tips for Visiting Monkey Forest

  1. Dress Comfortably: Wear light clothing and comfy shoes.
  2. Secure Your Belongings: Use a zippered bag and avoid bringing flashy items like jewelry or sunglasses. Consider using nearby storage services for valuables to ensure peace of mind.
  3. Avoid Bringing Food: Monekys are drawn to food and may become aggressive.
  4. Interact Safely:

Don’t touch or disturb the monkeys, especially babies.

Avoid direct eye contact to prevent misunderstandings.

5.Follow Rules: Read signs and listen to forest staff for guidance.

6.Visit Early: Morning visits are cooler and less crowded.

7.Take Photos Carefully: Hold your camera tightly, and avoid using flash.

Thank you for the tips!
Do you have any suggestions for the nearby storage services from the forest?
- @tsarafutdin

there is a lot of kinda services, but I think it's the nearest one from the forest https://maps.app.goo.gl/EL9NLDofg8xm6ocU6

Monkeys are slightly bright. They will take things from tourists in the hope of getting food from the guides as a ransom payment.

Don't wear hats, glasses, or anything else they can take.

Monkeys will gang up if they feel threatened, so let them take whatever they want or you could end up in a very dangerous situation.

Personally, having seen what the animals are like at a temple in the south, I wouldn't visit the place for a gold pig.

Dang!

It's been 10 years since I've visited it. It is one spot I wish to visit for my holiday. I have been looking for a nice place to visit for our honeymoon, I am wondering if [link moderated] is a good place to start.

I heard it is closed to many other places such as Monkey forest as well as it is in Ubud
