Anyone has experience living and working in Bahrain?

Hi,

If you've worked and lived in Bahrain, please share your experience. I have a friend who got a job offer in Bahrain and wants to find out more about the working and living conditions there.

The area that she'd be working in is Riffa.

Thanks

I spent 8 glorious year in Bahrain.  Riffa is highly populated with Westerners and very much a 'out of town' place.

As usual, good restaurants and clubs can be found around Bahrain, but if you like to hang about with Westerners, the Dilmun Club and British Club is available.  Also the Rugby Club is close.

Shopping is vast, especially the out of city malls, and then there is the Souk.  Always fun on a Friday night.

With the freedom of consuming alcohol, every hotel will have something going on, be it dancing, shows or quiet entertainment.

Bahrain is a haven for single people - especially if they like sports.  Try the two HASH clubs.  Lots of fun with some light entertainment after the run.

All-in-all there is never a dull moment in Bahrain (Unlike Kuwait).

or, you can head on over to the Bahrain Forum and ask your questions directly there :)

uve been doing alot of legwork for ur friends there Sahar, why dont they simply hop onto Expat-Blog and ask their questions themselves? :P

I can vouch for the Bahrain Forum Animator, Olivier-France, hes quite kind and very helpful, and in the belly of the beast, so to speak.

Thanks Paul&Collette and Legacy,

It turns out that the job offer my friend got wasn't a very good one after all so I don't think she is interested in finding out more about Bahrain. You're right, in the future, it would be a good idea to just direct my friends to the expat-blog. Thanks for referring me to Oliver-France.

Oui, à tout à l'heure :)
