Hi all,

we invite you to share your experience about moving to Greece.

Here is a list of questions which might help the ones preparing their move to Greece:

What would you bring and what would you leave behind?

Is it a good idea to bring furniture or domestic appliances?

Any foodstuffs that are banned in Greece?

Is it better to bring a car or to buy one once settled in Greece?

Any advice for the ones who are moving to Greece?

Thank you in advance for your participation :)

Hi there,

We moved to Kalamata from Singapore a few months ago.  I'd say our cargo was pretty small compared to standard international moves.  We are renting a tiny apartment here, so we left most of our furniture in Singapore.  I highly recommend, however, that you bring all gadgets, appliances and devices with you.  There are not many options here in Greece compared to what we're used to, and even the shop owners don't know where to get non-standard items.  Basically, if they're not used to selling it, they won't be able to help you.  We didn't bring foodstuff or a vehicle, just our personal belongings and some gadgets.  IT devices, specifically, are difficult to work with here.  Apple products, warranty, replacement, etc. need to be sent to Athens.  As for furniture, if you don't find what you like in the stores, just get them customized.  The retail experience may not be as grand as other places, but there are always people who'd be happy to customize for you.
