Wine-Biz... Anyone!?

Post new topic

Hi,

I'm working in a winery in St Emilion, things are finally starting to lighten up at work & am keen to meet up with anyone else in the wine industry or interested in wine.  I thought it was going to be heaps easier to find foreign people working in wineries here but so far I've only found a few.

So far my french is about as good as it can be after one month of work/speaking french... i.d. its pretty shit! Very keen for a beer! (or a wine)

Are you still working in wine?

I'm from London and have just bought a place near to St Emilion (within the Grand Cru area) and looking to start ~ 2 acres from scratch and with almost no French Language, yet!

@mwallisuk

This thread is very old (2011) so do not expect a reply. I suggest you open a new thread on the subject.

Hi

My husband and I are relatively new to wine growing, although unlike you we started off with existing vineyards and are further away from St. Emilion (15km) .  Through various cave cooperatives, I believe there is an ongoing initiative to support young and aspiring vignerons in the region.  Maybe you could enquire more at a cave nearest to you (assuming they speak English!)

If that doesnt work, the coopérative we’re with might have someone who speaks english in case you need more guidance on the wine business support. Perharps they might advice or give you useful contacts.

Cheers
