Want to travel to Thailand

Hello everyone, I want to travel to Thailand for studies and will be grateful to anyone who can provide me with some information on students life in Bangkok and students working in Bangkok.

Hi,

Can't help you with Bangkok (I live in Chiang Mai)... but if you are taking a proper study course with a bona fide school then they should be able to help you with obtaining the education visa before arrival. It is important to know that visas are a complicated issue, and you can't just turn up in Thailand and get one, it has to be sorted out before you leave.

Secondly you can't work in Thailand without a work visa. Work visas are very difficult to obtain. The only relatively easy work to obtain is teaching English, and for most decent jobs in this line you need the TEFL  qualification, and preferably a degree as well.

If you are planning to attend school here, they should be able to help you with a study visa, if they said they can't, you should avoid the school as it won't be a reputable or reliable school to attend.

You will not find work as a student here, one you need a work visa and can only obtain it from an employer, or you will need to be an expert in some field and have couple years of experience in order to find a job.

So best advice is to study hard and enjoy Bangkok!

You can travel to Thailand and enter on a tourist visa (free at present from Thai consular offices when issued abroad) or with an on arrival stamp, depending on your passport. Have a look at the study options when you are in the country. Reputable schools and universities can advise you of the appropriate long stay visa and after you make your decision you can leave for a neighbouring country for the issue of the visa.

Much better, I think, to look at what's on offer study-wise when you are in the country, before you decide whether it's for you.

There is a lot of apartment accommodation near to the major Bangkok universities which students rent cheaply, and the cost of food is quite low in the areas with high concentrations of students.
