Accidently plugged in 110V item in 220V

Hello,

I just moved to a Riyadh apartment. The apartment has two types of power sockets, one is smaller one and another bigger one. I was under the assumption that the one smaller is 110V and the bigger one is 220V. In one of the rooms, I had plugged in couple of 110V items into the smaller one and it was working fine for few weeks. However, yesterday, I moved them to another location. Once I plugged in, within 45 seconds, both the units stopped working (one is Panasonic cordless phone and the other is OOMA VOIP system). It looks like the other smaller socket is 220V.

Is there a way to get these units fixed? Or will I get similar adapters over here? If so, where can I get the adapters or get these fixed?

Thanks

Wilson

if your appliances are connected to the power outlet via a power supply (charger) then you only need to replace that and not the rest of the equipment. any electrical/electronic store will assist you if you take it to them.

Thanks everyone for the input.

musicman, can you please suggest a electrical/electronic store?

I would recommend one of the many electronic shops in the Al Aqariya II Mall (on the Olaya Street intersection), Ground Floor, where they sell most of this stuff.
