What English-speaking countries/cities in Africa are the best for foreigners? For relocation purposes not vacation. Land ownership, building and opening business are my primary concerns. Thanks

Nice! What kind of business are you looking at?

jahoilett

It really depends on where I decide to settle. I am currently in Ethiopia but there are so many legal issues inhibiting foreigners it may not be worth it. The business I decided to do here may not work in another area, so I have to keep my options open.

Can you suggest a good location?

Since you prefer an English-speaking country/city, you might consider Ghana (Accra is a nice city) or Nigeria (Lagos is a nice place to be, highly commercial and quite social). I really dont know about setting up  a business in Ghana, but i know setting up a business in Nigeria is less stressful. It might help if we could have a hint of the kind of business you tend to venture into.

Hello there.
Here is my opinion:

Namibia is by far the best African country to relocate to and to do business in. The government is very friendly to foreign investors; the country is the most politically stable and you will not find corruption in the system as compared to Nigeria and many other countries.

Right now the potential is great for investors. The country's population is very small. The downside of that is that you must find external markets for your products.

The agricultural sector is wide open as Namibia still imports most of its fruits and vegetables, eggs and milk from South Africa; Chicken from Brazil and Ireland.

There is opportunities in construction; in hospitality and tourism, in mining and in training.

Further, the government is very gracious about repatriation of profits. Immigration laws, like any other country are stringent but very accommodating to bona fide investors.

If you are interested feel free to write to me on my email and I will be happy to give you some links on the possible areas for investment and immigration that might be useful.

Best regards,

Zenani
