Hi Everyone,
I just moved to Nairobi from British Columbia (Canada) and will be staying for a while, until August! In the meantime, it would be lovely to meet some other travellers to Kenya and possibly meet for tea or dinner. Anyone interested?

Bienvenue au Kenya.Je  parle un peu francais.Est-ce qu'il y a ete  autre reunion?

suirvale

be carful of making friends with kenya if you are white as they expect foreigner to pay for everything,  they will even want taxi fares,,,hotels are a rip off so stay in parkside  javanjee gardens ner city centre for a few nightsm,i got robbed as usual last tiem i was therem try and not go otu alone at night,,

phoebe kisongochi

Hi Kaylaw! you are welcome.I am a kenyan and am interested but let it not be only coffee but share alot that is informative in our future.Like me,i do business in Real Estate Management whereby we sell Developed, Non-Developed plots and also Letting. So if you have a friend looking for any or you might be willing, just sent an email or sms.

chicita

Suirvale,
It is important to be careful. Even Kenyan natives dont go to Jivanjee just like that. In this life,we take a risk everyday,to make new frineds,to go for that new job interview,to try out new products and friendships as well. It is good to be careful but try out new things as well.

suirvale

yeh  why does a foreniner have to make mistakes  and everyone from kenya tells them after wards,.why do they not have sign   on street  ther for foreigners  to BEAWARE,.,OR else  kenyans seem to always  say  oh i can get you cheaper hotel,...In  vietnam  they have police who kindly escort tourists acrosss streets at major junctions,.,.
but american embassy  tels  us all a different story,.,.cheers,.,.

Wawuda

Suirvale, It's sad that you had a bad experience in Kenya.  It happens and it's horrible.  As a traveler you also have to do your research.  Do not assume that everything will go well!  As for Kenyans expecting you to pay for everything, that is your experience, not every Kenyan is like that.

suirvale

my main point is that kenyas reputation  is not good, if i asked any  friends to travel to kenya with me and explain the adventures etc  they are not convinced,,kenya government  does not seem to realise that 25million tourist go to austrail every year, , ryan air does about 80million tourists flight per annum in europe   so kenya because of  bad police  and lookign for  big buck tourists  the kenya peoplel are losing out so much,  everone likes  the pictures of  black babes  but not many travle ,.but no one believes what i tell them in kenya,.for instance so little ppublicity about races in NGONG and the taxi will charge me 2000ksh  and hoppa bus is 50 ksh,.you kenyas need to listen to feedback from tourists,.cheers,.,.

chicita

Hi everyone,

I need some ideas. Who has suggestions on when we can plan a coffee meet on(it should be soon)on a weekend for people to mmet new friends. This way,no one will feel obliged to pay another person's bill because we will go an affordable place and everyone foot thier own bill.

Suggestions?

Wawuda

Many places to have coffee, Dormans, Java, Savannah.  I prefer the Java on Koinange St. coz it's spacious.

BabyH

Hi Chicita,

I would like to suggest a saturday 31st March- Savanna loita street is good.
