There are so many in Cairo that it's often hard to know where to go! I for one am having immense trouble finding a half decent beauty salon as there is a lack of reviews and information online. So I thought it would be useful for anyone who's interested to start reviewing hair salons, beauty salons, spas and gyms here.

Manuela Massage Spa Amman Square near Shooting Club, Dokki. (moderated: no free ads please)5/5
Probably the most wonderful spa experience I've ever had. The whole place is so relaxing. I've been there twice now. Those little Thai ladies have the strength of about 5 men, it's ridiculous. My mother went and said she's never had a better massage and she's been looking for years. After the massage you get a drink and plate of very yummy fruit. I definitely recommend this spa.
Massages 300LE on average. A bit more expensive for men.
Facials, scrubs and baths also available.
Morocco Spa - Ladies Only Moussadak Street, Dokki (moderated: no free ads please)2.5/5
My friends and I went for sugaring and threading. The staff were very nice and it was quite well decorated and fairly clean. The thread wasn't pulled quite tight enough during threading so it hurt much more than it should have. She shaped my eyebrows well.
They sugar with a goopy ball of melting ..sugar, I guess. It's a lot more painful than waxing or sugaring with strips because they pull the skin and I was left with some bruising! I've never winced before during hair removal but that bikini wax was hell! Also, some of the hairs were just broken and not pulled out properly.
I brought some of my friends a couple of days before I had my wax and when I did have mine, the receptionist said, "Oh you can have the body scrub treatment" and the way she said it was as though it was included because I had brought so many friends? And I said I wasn't sure I had time but she insisted. I was covered in a million different pastes and scrubbed til my skin was raw in the suffocating steam room. It took 2 hours and then I was charged for it. Personally, I think that was a bit cheeky of them.
Eyebrow and lip threading cost 50LE
Bikini and underarm sugaring cost about 200LE if I remember rightly.
Body scrub treatment 550LE
Pro Gym Sawra Street, Dokki.(moderated: no free ads please) 4/5
A nice modern gym with plenty of personal trainers hanging around waiting to help you out. It's 24 hours and you can freeze your membership when you like. Various exercise classes, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are included, massages are available. The ladies changing area had great facilities which are joined onto the ladies only exercise floor. There is a swimming pool, it's quite small. There are ladies only hours for the pool. There's a weights floor, a women's floor, a general floor and then a floor with various rooms for the classes.
Overall a very nice gym, I really enjoy going. I wish the air-con was a bit better and that the pool was bigger but there is a great variety of machines etc.
I paid 2450LE for 6 months.
I hope someone found that useful! And that people start using this thread for reviewing
Thanks for reading.
