Post new topic

Waleed K

Hey

I'm moving to Kuwait next week got a job offer there, will be living in salmiya so i was wondering if anyone could help recommend good places to chill at or where can someone enjoy a late night scotch drink, also getting to know people there one last thing please tell me more about salmita !

legacy

hello and welcome to kuwait & Expat.com Waleed!

late night scotch? do u know where you are heading exactly mon ami? This isnt Egypt - alcohol is banned here (legally), unless you're a western expat who can head on over to their embassy for happy hour, brace yourself for a dry experience.

where exactly in Salmiya will u be, like street etc. that way we can better guide you as to the local attractions in your immediate vicinity :)

Hey Legacy

Thanks for your reply man, well i have done my research on google lol and the only thing related to booze i found was that beer and wine were fine down there, not quite sure if a trustworthy article, anyways well at the moment i don't really know where exactly in salmiya but i would love if u suggest me a street name that is good to live at to make it easier i have been living in maadi for the past 24 years :) so i want something that is similar to that in kuwait.
thanks for your reply

Welcome.

Waleed K

Thank you :)

legacy

lol, waleed, no harm, just know that they are NOT fine down here :) they take public drunkenness very seriously, not as serious as saudi but it is a taboo, an offence here.

u lived in Maadi, i would say, Salwa. its quiet, residential, low rise buildings.

then again, since u lived there for 24 years, dont u wanna try something different? Salmiya would be comparable to Abbas El Akkad st in Nasr City

Waleed K

@ legacy well thanks i just did my research again n found out its a 5 year prison or somethin like that lol, anyways Abbas El Akkad nooooooo freakin way, u know how maadi is like its calm u can go joggin in the morning lots of expats down here so i guess salwa sounds more of an interesting place to live at is it any close to Jahra Road btw cause am gonna be workin there ????

legacy

Jahra road, that would be shuwaikh or kuwait city where ur working. Salwa is on the other end of the Gulf. not every work place has a residential area where u can rent close by it :P

plus - whats wrong with abbas? i live there :P

Waleed K

:D so is it any close to Salwa or samliya or whatever :) haha nuthin is wrong with abbas of course but its really crowded over packed haha well, thanks a lot for ur help legacy i really appreciate n hopefully we will meet up someday in kuwait just let me know if u guys go jogging or the gym since there is pretty much nuthin to do in Kuwait so why not take the opportunity n stay healthy.

legacy

Nope :P Salwa is not close to Jahra Road

Waleed K

Ahhh Gosh :D so you suggest i go ahead and give salmiya a try ha ? well am gonna take ur word for it ad try Abbas Nasr city :P
