Denied visa extension

Post new topic

Hi,

Are there any scenarios where a extension for tourist can be denied? Even though you have submitted all the requirements?

I got around 3500 us dollars to blow here, and I'm staying with my friend so there's no hotel fees. Will that be enough for two months holiday here?

If you are here as a tourist, then you are allowed to stay for only three months.  If you stay longer, the police will find you and take you to the airport.  Now you can leave and come back a few weeks later and start the three month stay all over again.

Only been here since last December 15, so I'm requesting to apply for additional 45 days. So, they would approve it right? I have all the papers needed

pkshamjhu

yes they may approve it. USD3500 will be enough provided you travel less by taxi, use bus. Eat less in restaurants, manage your own foods often. At the end if you can manage your clothes washing & food cooking on your own, the money will be enough & may save a bit too.

Your friend with whom you are staying is mauritian?

Skiffle

Yes he is, family friend

I don't eat. Much in resto, since the friend I stay with loves to cook, I love to cook as well. So I like going to the market instead to buy my own ingredients. I just like the beach in here, not much on traveling far away.

Hi

$3500 is too much for 2 months, specially when u stay with a friend! & even if u stay in a simple but very clean place like an authorized& hygen equipped guest house. Do not waste ur money . by this amount of budget u can see many places in this lovely country with friendly locals. Visit Makassar/Toraja & Bali . go to Thousand Island near Jakarta.
enjoy ur trip.
Take care of ur money &docs firmly.
do not go to unknown places
do not buy drinks served in public glasses tt are apparently washed!! in dirty plain water by the seller with dirty hands after each time use by different buyers!!
Enjoy PADANG food.

We have just returned from extending my brother's visa--he entered on 26th November and was granted 60 days---although telling the immigration he was here for 3 months--this has been the scenario for the past three years whilst for the previous two years he was granted 3 months on arrival!! The forms one can download would appear to have been revised so it is better to complete the form at Stirling house. This year we as his 'sponsors' were required to supply a copy of our own bank statement!!!! Apparently this is a new requirement--or so we were informed today despite this not being noted on the Government website( now why doesn't that surprise me??)The information posted in the office at Stirling house indicates that one is expcted to have at least USD 100 per day for the duration of the required extension!!!!My brother does not carry his bank statements with him on holiday but had entered on the form the amount of UK sterling he has in his possesion here--this was not queried.
Do remember to take one passport sized photograph with you--here again this is not indicated on the aforsaid website!!!
Someone earlier said that maximum stay was three month although I believe that is is actually 6 months( with naturally an extension being granted after the intial period indicated on a pasport on first arrival) unless this is another change in regulations????

Skiffle

Yups they asked for the bank statements.

Skiffle

So your brother has been staying here since nov 26 2011? Or longer?

settledexpat

He has been here since 26 november

pkshamjhu

so dont worry skiffle, USD3500 will be enough. And why dont your Mauritian friend help you. He/She must be able to help you I think......

Skiffle

yeah, they helped me loads :)

mom2cc

You are allowed 181 days per calender year.

Skiffle

thats more than 3 months huh

HeyJude

You have to apply of course but generally as a tourist who can show proof that they are able to support themselves during their stay can get 6 months per year.  We have friends who have done this twice already and plan to do so again next year.

Nadeem

Tourist is 6 months a year.  Saw someone saying that after 3 months, you get chased by the cops! No way.  However, bear in mind that only one extension is now allowed. So make sure that when you go there for extension procedures, ask for the maximum.  Else, the only solutoin would be to leave the country and come back again (you have to be within the 6 month limit).

tarunhshah

yes it will be enough howevevr they will not give visa more than 90 days in one calender year .

Nadeem

They give up to 180 days tourist visa in a year.

Business visas are limited to 90 days.

The law (Immigration Act) specifies all this.

Skiffle

Ahhh... I only asked for an extension already and it's only for three months..so I cants ask for extension anymore??

Nadeem

Well, you can still try.  Nothing in the law says that your can apply for only one extension. It's one of those internal rules that the immigration operates.  With good reasons and a good smile, you should have air chances of getting it.

Ok! Ok ! Thanks!
