Hi All

I've now got the opportunity to relocate to Tripoli, working for a risk management company. Hopefully, my wife and son will join later.

I have international health insurance and wanted to know what private hospitals exist?

Does anyone have any experience of private gynaecology clinic in Tripoli?

Many thanks in advance

St. James Hospital - Tripoli

Siddiqui

Health care in Libya is rudimentary whether private or public. You have to come with a very open mind about this.

A couple of years ago my daughter fell and fractured her arm, I took her to St. James, they advised that they couldn't attend to her as they did not have emergency service.

Libyan-Swiss informed me that they stopped taking BUPA cases.

Al-aafia the largest private hospital asked us to wait for the sugeon to show up so he can write up the note for the x-ray. He was expected to arrive in 3-4 hours.

I then called one of my doctor friend who contacted a nurse he knew in one of the government hospitals who in turn arranged to meet me there and helped us get the x-rays and the cast taken care of.

Half a day of running around all over town to get a fracture looked after.

There are some good private small hospitals here too with full diagnostic labs and equipment and all specialists on staff available as required. AL-Mukhtar Clinic is one that I have tried and was quite satisfied with their service. (I found out about this one after the incident with my daughter).

You will have to find your own way around and experience these for yourself to get a feel for the facilities that give you the warm and fuzzy feeling.

Welcome to Libya............
