Hi Drew, I will be moving to the region end of June. My husband is Belgian and I (American) understand that I could acquire the permission to work. Since you are in the recruitment business, is there any chances for an English speaker to find a job as a consultant? Is there any recruitment agency that you might know that is dealing with international expats in Europe?

Hi Dexpatmena,

Yes it's certainly possible to find something as there are some International companies in the immediate area. But really you would have to be willing to travel to Brussels, as you're proabbly already aware, to give yourself more opportunities - do you already know exactly where you will be living?

Personally I didn't try to seek out any specialist expat recruitment company to help with my own searches - so I'm unaware of any in particular. What kind of consultant job do you mean? But certainly don't be put off applying for something if you see they require French, Dutch or German - I've seen companies be quite flexible on that point.

Thanks Drew for the response. OK by consulting I mean to even work on projects if full time is not available. I would be a perfect match for ad, communications/PR agencies which normally they would need consultants to work for them on the project basis. of course if a full time is available I wouldn't mind of course.
Areas to live- I always wanted to live in Brussles until yesterday reading through posts here and realized that because of our kids, Brussles wouldn't be a perfect choice for schools.
I wouldn't of course mind the travel. He was from Liege but I dont like Liege. We are thinking about Arlon areas but at this point open to all "opportunities"!
