Intercultural relationships are of course possible, although always more challenging than "normal" ones. Whether any particular person (here: YOU) can manage it is difficult to predict. (At least be prepared for a roller-coaster!)
One word of caution, though: Charmers with ulterior motives exist anywhere in the world, but people from "poor" countries have additional motivation to find a partner from the "rich world". Skype and email are a VERY bad method of judging this - so please keep your hopes, plans and dreams low until you have actually met him for any length of time. (And for heavens sake, DON'T send money under ANY circumstances: Thousands have fallen for sob stories of sick parents or sent funds for flights or other things!)

zoozee, If you really felt LOVE to him, and you already know how poor he was, you will accept everything from him or atleast adjust your way of life to his culture and same as he to you. just give yourself time to know him more personally, meeting through net is different from meeting through personally. now if you're really sure bout your feeling towards him go for gold.

get to know him much . if there is a common friend ask him/her about him
