I just typed it last night looking like that. Sorry for the all caps!
Good luck..
most of the answers will come from SAPIC. sometimes they give houses and cars free and sometimes not.
SABIC is one of the greatest companies in Saudi Arabia
it become the second or equal to ARAMCO nowadays, it's good opportunity don't miss it.
for answering the question, SABIC giving allowance for 1
1- transportation allowance 10% basic salary,
2- Housing Allowance for none Saudies as 25% of basic salary.
3- medical care insurance + for family also.
4- Annual bonus yearly ( 2011 gave 4 months salary as bonus, 3 months Salary in 2010 )
5- education allowance for children ( full covered for first 2 children, 10% of basic salary for the rest of children)
about the salary, it's not possible to say specific salary by giving the position name, but it may say if you know your grade.

Thank you sir for the infos! I would like to know if the transportation allowance is 10& basic salary? Are the housing transpo allownaces given on a monthly basis? So basically if I work here I can save a lot of money for my family?
Why dont you ask the company offering you the job - no doubt they will have the answers to your questions. There is no set salary as such here anyway -it all depends on the company, how much they want you, where you come from, your package etc.
I apprieciate people want an idea on life in Saudi but be realistic, if you cant work out how to pick up a phone or send an email pretty sure whatever you get paid will be a bonus. Speak to your company and ask them what you get. No one else knows they only speculate on what they have heard or receive themselves.

Sorry, But its nowhere near to ARAMCO !!!

Why is that so? You probably have a good basis for such a statement? Will appreciate if you can share your thoughts as to what SABIC lacks that ARAMCO has with some examples?
Thanks!

1) It is the largest oil producer and holder of the oil reserves in the world.
2) It has maintained the top position in the petroleum Intelligence weekly's annual world oil company ranking since the ranking began in yr 1988 and is widely perceived as the most powerful and influential oil company in the world.
3) The world's largest spare production company.
4) Access to low cost oil and gas production assets.
5) Advanced Upstream technologies.
6) Excellent relationship with the govt.
7) Huge liquid reserves.
8) A fully state owned entity.
These are some of the + points on which Aramco outclasses sabic and last but not the least where does the SABIC gets its RAW product from ??? Any guesses !!!
ARAMCO & SABIC are different in their business,
i totally agree with brother Saimans.
ARAMCO are the top in Oil company while SABIC goes for petrochemical and it one of the top companies in the world in petrochemical business.
so it's not possible to compare between these two companies, but both consider as large authority that control the economy of Saudi Arabia, and both have branches in the world.
but as a benefit for the employees, self development, salary scale and motivations , SABIC are more focused by the people nowdays.

You hit the nail right on the head Komsee, but I don't see how you agree with saimans. He is comparing apples to oranges and many points he has highlighted are irrelevant for comparison as both companies have their own areas of specialties in which they excel.

That is good to know. I was expecting to hear more comments in context, relevant to the topic of discussion, like comparing and contrasting salary, benefits, work culture, etc.
Thanks for all the good comments!

I completely agree with you both the Guys that the companies have defferent expertise. And also with Komsee, SABIC has grown in a huge giant lately with new process and the petrochemical plants coming over.
@ Expatpro - Aramco just scores some points over Sabic. ( If not agreeing, have a survey done ) And I compared them with the stats/logic which are known. However, employee satisfaction, salary package, self/career development, motivations, these are all generic !!
i have total of 8 years in Planning engineering, so what is the grade i am entitled for?
How does Aramco or Sabic grade you? For Filipino they said that 6,000SAR is the salary is this true? For that position.
Can anyone give a basic range, in either SR/SAR or USD, of a Sabic position for Senior Corporate Communications Writer - or related, Senior Technical Writer ?
I have a Masters, 17 years of experience, and in the early stages via a headhunter right now. Just curious as to what ballpark package they may offer, if they're interested.
Thanks....
I think a base salary of minimum SAR 25K/month should be a good start, SABIC pays 10% transportation & 25% housing on top of that.
Now based on your experience and based on the fact that they will be hiring a lot of ppl now, you can easily push for more.
Very good. Thank you, slyshooter. That net would be less in USD, by quite a margin, than what I make here.
However, as you said, there appears to be room for upward negotiation, and I believe it's very much tax free, from what I've read. So, on balance, with other 'add-ons,' it might be worth it.
Might I ask, if you know - does SABIC generally have a compound(s) they work with ?
Thank you,
Will
Hello To All..
Next month by January I will join Sabic Sadaf on a GC 10 status. May I ask what are the GCs and their titles for Sadaf. I'm hoping you can all give me light on the matter. Thank you very much though!
For Sabic basic salary, usually it is 1000 riyals per year of experience up to 10 years. If you exceed 10 years, they will give you whatever rate they want.
Rates also differs from where you come from. Of course higher salary are offered for westerners and lower salaries are offered for asians (east asians in particular).
As for the one asking if there is a compound for employees, there's no compound at all and only Saudis are entitled for the housing (ownership) or villas within royal commission area, although Sabic may arrange an apartment/villa for you, it depends on your agreement with the recruitment.
Dear All,
I'm a mechanical engineer , 8.5 years experience, I've got a good offer to work in SABIC but the contract will be with a contractor (Dar El Riyadh).I know that SABIC is a very good company but I've a lot of concerns regarding working through a contractor not a direct hiring with sabic, so I want your advice in this situation:
1) Is it safe to work in SABIC through a contractor or they can end the contract anytime (What is the history in similar cases)?
2) Do anyone know any thing about DAR EL riyadh Company?
3) What is the possibility to join SABIC directly in the future (within 1-2 years).
4) Is there any benefits are not available to contractor's employees, what about bonus & annual increases?
The interview was with a supervisor from SABIC, the HR employee (from Dar El Riadh) told me that only your payroll will be from Dar El riady but you'll have all the rights of SABIC Employee's....is this a true information.
I need your advise to decide whether to travel or not.
dont belive dar al riyadh
they just dump u inside kingdom after that dont care about u
1) Is it safe to work in SABIC through a contractor or they can end the contract anytime (What is the history in similar cases)?-YES ,CAN END WITH 2 MONTHS NOTICE ON EITHER PART
2) Do anyone know any thing about DAR EL riyadh Company?-YES, IT IS A USELESS COMPANY ,BUT SOME PEOPLE SAY THE BEST MANPOWER CONTRACTING AVAILABLE IN KSA (SO IMAGINE ABOUT THE WORST)
3) What is the possibility to join SABIC directly in the future (within 1-2 years).(NOT AT ALL,FORGET IT)
4) Is there any benefits are not available to contractor's employees, what about bonus & annual increases?(CONTACTORS HAVE NO ADDED BENIFITS,INCREMENTS .YOU WILL GET WHAT U R GETTING TILL TERMINATION )
Hello everyone
I will join sabic sharq as an electrical engineer grade 12
I need some help to understand the housing mechanism hence I chooses the housing provided by sabic
thanks a lot
saimans, Komsee, ExpatPro - Would it be wise to cross-over from Oil and Gas (Aramco JV) to Petchem (SABIC affiliate) within the same skill group or job position? I spent slightly more than 10 years in refining but currently contemplating a job offer in a Petchem company.

Hi Mojdo,
Personally Considering the present scenario in the oil and gas market, I would not make any move to some other company within the kingdom. You getting my point. Agreed, both are top class companies in KSA, but things aren’t going that good for oil and gas. However on the other hand, if there’s a major change in the emoluments and career push up, then it’s worth giving it a thought.
Good luck buddy !!
