Best place to live in Brazil...

Bazseville

Hi Guys,

I lived in Salvador, Bahia, for four months a few years back as a TEFL teacher. I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks the best place to live is.

I had a great time in Bahia; the carnival was amazing, my students were great, and the food was quality. I didn't always feel safe though, well definitely not to start with. Once I'd learnt the language I could defend myself better.

Part of me wishes I'd lived in Rio, I had an amazing 3 days there and could have stayed for longer, but Salvador was calling.

What do you guys think? Where's the best place to live?

Belo Horizonte is a very livable city, and less expensive.  Zona Sul in Rio, however, is probably the most upscale and developed place to live in Brazil, but also very expensive, and Rio has more social problems than I encounter here in BH.
