Indication on package

Hi,

I am entering into negotiation with a company to move to Mauritius as a general manager. The company will be paying for the house and car and are asking me to state the monthly salary. I have been reading some old blogs regarding the cost of living and would like some advice on a range of salary that will enable me and my wife to live well, and maybe save some. Can you please evaluate the following ranges:

1. $3,500 to $4,000
2. $4,500 to $5,000
3. $5,000 to $6,000

What else should I know and add to the negotiation? Insurance, annual leave, return tickets? Other? Are these standard requirements and negotiable?

Thank you all for your help.

Vayid

Dear zewise

Welcome to Mauritius

The package differs widely across firms. Still, something not less than US$ 5,000/- would be fine.

The following can be negotiated without much difficulty:

•    Size and approximate location of the house
•    Medical insurance
•    Annual leave
•    Return tickets for you and your wife
•    Performance bonus
•    Any other bonus prevailing within the organisation.

Anyway, should you so wish, you could send me a copy of your draft employment contract through mail, and I would be able to tell you where you stand, and whether you could secure a better deal.

Cheers
