Hi;
I would like to know the cost of living in Ghana as I am relocating with wife from Dubai this May 2012. I am being offered a salary of USD 2200 plus furnished accomodation and car pool. Will that be suffiecient for me and wife to live a comfortable life. Is there a strong Indian community there. How about super markets and public transportation?

Kindly advice.

What kind of job were you offered?is it from ghana or in dubai

I would think the salary is adequate if you are not paying for accommodation and a car. I presume you are also getting medical cover and the accommodation includes utilities.
There is a strong Indian community here and the supermarkets are OK but of course they are probably not what you are used to in Dubai.
Good luck with the move.

Hi!
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes I am being offered accommodation and car but utilities are to be borne by self. As long as the supermarket stocks all necessary stuff its fine. Yes I am not comparing it with Dubai as its completely different.

Thanks and do give any other input if you feel is required for me.

Hello,

$2200 per month should be more than enough in Ghana. Do you have kids and if so how many and what schools will they be attending? The choice of school makes a huge difference in what salary you should seek.

Now, Ghana has supermarkets that stock products from South Africa, US and Europe, you should be fine in that regard.

Though it is Africa, cost of living is not cheap so be sure you have asked all your salient questions before you make the final move.

Also is the accomodation and car paid for? or you will need to pay from your monthly salary?

I hope I have helped in some way.
