Singapore to India with love <3

Post new topic

nightbreeze

Hi all,

I fell in love with a fine Indian man residing in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and we're planning to get married! (Woo hoo!!!)

A bit about myself. I am a Singaporean of Indian ethnicity (my forefathers are origninally from India prolly in the 1800's and we have lost our root back home). I have travelled to India for leisure but never thought I would fall in love with a man there.

The question I would love to post is how to go about legally in getting married and living in India. We are planning to register our marriage in Singapore but live in India (have our traditional wedding ceremony here in a temple).

Any kind souls out there who can advise how to go about it? I've check various forums, blogs, websites etc to get a definite answer but the regulations in India seem confusing. I am unclear on the Visa issues etc.

Please advise! Will appreciate it lotsa! :)))
Thank you!

WoW  What a Title you chose for your query !!

Almost like the the James Bond - From Russia with Love
:D

So nice to observe the positive effervescence of a person excitedly walking on cloud ten !

Congratulations !!

Now there are 2 recent threds on the same topic covering your query that you will find within 1st two pages of index of discussion topics. 1 is something like- getting married in India & the 2nd- marrying my indian boyfried on a tourist visa.

& dont listen to an oldman here who has a habbit of cajoling everyone into bribe giving because the oldguy has a habbit of using the corruption bogey in the name of advise whenever he does'nt understand the intricacies of a topic.

We in India move slow but surely "move" (at our own pace though)

Meaning hereby that you will also ultimately get a PIO card & then you would'nt be bothered with visa hassles  thereafter in your new home - the land of your forefathers as explained in 1 of those threads.

Wish you a happy & beautiful married life !

Cheers !

Hi Friend,
There are two opinions  to processing for the same, you can approach the residence visa and get married through Singapore regulatory  authorities with the supporting document of Singapore indian embassy. After registration  of married same documents would be helpful to register your name for permanent indian citizenship. Same processing procedures would be helpful for both parties to obtain for permanent citizenship.

Hello WarmFriend!

Thanks for your reply and your warm wishes!!! Well isn't it amazing to be in love? You'll get all so hyper! Hahahaha!

Anyway thanks for highlighting few things in your reply. I will definitely check it out. I have also asked my boyfriend to check with the local authorities to get a better answer. And like you mentioned corruption and so on, I gotta be vigilant.

Woot! I am pretty excited to go back to the land where my ancestors descent! :)))

Thanks a lot once again for your reply and wishes! Lovely! :)

hello klrana.hse@gmail.com,

Thanks for your reply!! You mean to say I don't need to register my marriage in India? All I need is the marriage certificate in Singapore to apply for PR? Is that all?

WarmFriend

Hi,

You can simply call Embassy and get more details. They will assist you in more detailed way because every citizen has different procedure. I dont think in internet you will get more clear ideas unless any singaporian post about his/her marriage with Indian. Beleive you already have embassy numbers.

Welcome to INDIA and all the best for your future
