Well, I have a friend whose residence has expired, so if she leaves the EU now, how would she get back in?
Let's say she tries to re-enter the EU through Germany, for example. How would she explain to them that her appointment for extending her residence is in November?
Wow.....thank God we applied already...well now have to collect the new cards...already 4weeks past
someone with an appointment 4 weeks ago has been told their card is ready

WOW, do you know if they got a letter or a phone call as has been mentioned here?

Me! In other case I cannot go out from Malta this year

I have. But my current residence permit will be expired in June. And I doubt that I will receive the appointment before
And I am from Russia. So I need residence permit to come back
ricky wrote:Hi rainbow,
if it has been changed then the present days must be Monday,Tuesday and Thursday for EU and TCN's and Fridays reserved for protected persons.
Let's not confuse the applicants!
Cheers
Ricky
This is now correct, according to my Compliance Office friend. Wednesdays the Castille office is closed. I am told that TCN applicants will have their visa applications dealt with at the same time as their eresidence applications, which means extra work for the three-person staff and considerably adding to the delays in the whole process
ok i see what you mean now...
wow 3 people to process 25000-35000 non maltese nationals in a little under 11 weeks.....in 3-4 days per week (well when i say days.....?????????
hmm can I ask a question, does anyone know what exactly does letter L on an ID card stand for? I tried searching but to no avail. Sorry if slightly off topic!
Great news, we just received a computer generated letter -folded with tabs on 3 sides- that our ID cards are ready for collection from 172 Melita in Valletta. They can be collected from 08.30 to 11.30 hours weekdays, not on Wednesday. You need to bring passport and application receipt. It took exactly one month after our application date. We will collect the cards next Monday.
Strangely enough the letter gives you two codes a PIN A named "Authentication PIN and PIN B named "Signing" PIN. I have not the slightest idea what their purpose is yet. If someone knows please let me know.
Hi Myrkur,
the ending 'L' is given children registered in Malta after the year 2000. Children registered in Gozo after the year 2000 carry the ending H instead of G.
It has to do with the change in the citizenship law and dual citizenship.
Cheers
Ricky
Hi popro,
PIN's have to do with the option of using your new e-residence card as an online identification system but I'm not sure how it works and if it makes sense.
Congratulations for your new identity -)))
Now I'm waiting as it has been about 4 weeks for us too ! WE were there on the 22 nd January.
Cheers
Ricky
Thanks Ricky. Yeah I knew it had something to do with dual citizenship, but we were just wondering if the letter L stands for an actual word or is just a randomly picked letter!
Thanks
Could it be your E-ID. Gov. When we collected our receipt for our E-res we were asked if we wanted the E-ID for government website.
Yes, probably it's e-id
Before we should apply for it separately.
You can check mygov.mt for details.

So we won't have to go back to Castille!!! That's great news.
I was already thinking that we'd lose another 3 hours of our life and how bad it would be to go there again to collect the cards.

Well, we went there on exactly the same day. Your letters must be in the mail.

Hi Ricky,
Same here...we also applied on 22nd of January...but still waiting though..
Hi,
can I ask if we need to apply for e.Residency for our children (19 months and 3 years) as well?
Thanks,
Jitka
Yes, your children will require e-residency as well and have to attend with you, not sure what the age range is.
Terry
I saw one of the new eresidency cards today - same size as old ID card
Thank you, Terry.

It means 160 persons per day divided on 3 clerks (within 3 hours)... not possible :-)

ridicuous - un-necessary pressure on these guys - who are sadly exposed to the hassles through no fault of their own - their bosses have let them down and should be ashamed
Hi,
my wife is a 3rd country national and currently is here with the 90days Schengen Visum.
As we did not get a date for our appointment yet I was wondering if anyone knows where to get his 5yr Stamp for the Passport so she can sty in the EU for that time.
I would really hate it, if we could not travel freely within the EU and also to other countries just because the governement seems to be extremly slow here.
Any other Ideas are welcomed as well.
Thanks,
Michael.
Hi Michael,
I was hoping that there would be a special procedure for cases like yours.
I'm not aware of a 5 year stamp in the passport ?
You should try and contact DCEA as after your wife's 90 day Schengen visa expires she is staying illegally and she might even have a problem travelling within the Schengen zone if someone notices it. She certainly coudn't travel to the UK.
If you don't intend to leave Malta it should be ok. If you do try and contact the Department or maybe get advice through the German embassy here in Malta. They probably have good contacts to somebody in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs who knows what to do.
Cheers
Ricky
At last, got our cards. Easy to spot the location in Melita. If you see a lot of people waiting that is the spot. You are let in the building in groups of 8. Then your residence receipt is collected, your name is called, 2 signatures and you get your card.
The card is valid for 5 years from the date of application . Te card has now on the front a new number in the format MT0000000. The old ID number is now printed very small on the back. Not sure if this number will still be used. The back of the card also holds the chip and 3 lines of computer readable characters. Our cards also say 60+ This could also mean no more KartAnzjan???
Well that was the e-residence procedure for me. Now only the tax-office left.
Thanks Ricky!
the 5yr Stamp is some kind of Visa for the EU. When you are married to an EU citizen and you are a 3rd country national, then your wife/husband have the right to live together with you.
Of course as long as you are married otherwise it is nil and void.
I have to go to the embassy tomorrow anyways I think will check there as well (we will be only holidays now for one month anyways and wont be able to resolve it beforehand. Will take our marrige certificates with us, just in case.)
Michael.
Hi Michael, the appointment you are waiting for from the Ministry is the one where you apply for your partner's 5 year residency document which I think is what you are referring to, there is no other way of applying for this as far as I know and the last we heard the appointments were now being given out for November so it will be a long wait!
If that is true then it is more than ridicoulos, how am I supposed to travel with my wife then?
I heard from some maltese people that this is probably due to the elections and afterwards it will be better.
Anyways I wrote a letter to my lawyers in order to resolve it, if I do not pay my taxes they will be on my feet as well. So they should do their job as well
Will let you guys know if something comes up.
Hi ,
As rainbow pointed out, this is the way you should go....i have family member and we had to reapply now for the new cards...no matter that we had already...basically for TCN they issue res card valid for 5 years...now for the new system is the same...we applied and now waiting to be issued...we had go through all this so believe me it is a hassle!!
michael78 wrote:If that is true then it is more than ridicoulos, how am I supposed to travel with my wife then?
Good question, unfortunately a lot of other people are in the same position.
I emailed for my appointment and after about 5 weeks, got an appointment for Tuesday 11th May......only problem is that the 11th May is a Saturday!!! I've now spent two more weeks trying to get confirmation of the right day as I will need to take time off work and the boss wants to know when! There are at least 7 of us in a small ofice who all need to get the new cards (UK and Germans), so there's going to be issues there especially if it gets into holiday season before we all get booked in!

Hi popro
Bet you are glad that is all over, thankyou for updating, sounds like the card will be easier to carry around than the previous residency documents, good luck with the tax office:)

Thanks Popova, I believe you put in an earlier post that your non EU family member is travelling soon, could you update after that to let us know if they had any problems using the new eresidence card when travelling please, my husband is non EU so I would be interested to know.
