I just checked the email we had at the end of last month confirming our appointment in July and it has been sent from MHAS instead of MFA, although it does direct me to the MFA website for the forms which has obviously changed to MHAS now!

here ye go

This is the new website for residency.
http://mhas.gov.mt/en/MHA-Information/S … dence.aspx

But it shows no address just opening times.

Toon

Does anyone know if the validity extension to November 2013 for the old ID cards holds true for the old residency certificates as well.

Naz23

I am so confused. com
We have just moved to Gozo 3 weeks ago. we are looking for jobs and have no clue as to what we have to do for tax ect..... We went to get ID cards in Gozo but were given a piece of paper saying to call this number that just rings and rings. The email address no one emails back. please can anyone help i really want to start working!
We want to get dual residency for malta and uk has anyone got this and have any info in it.
Thanks

Toon

you dont need an id card to start work - if you are EU then you can use your passport and a rental contract to go to the job centre and get an SSCnumber (same as the UK NI number)

why do you want dual residency ?

Toon

dont bother with ringing or emailing them - you will be wasting your time and theirs  - as theyre trying to clear a backlog of over 3000 - if its urgent for the id card - try writing direct.

But really you dont the id card to start work assuming you got a job

Toon

can you actually have dual residency or is it dual citizenship?

georgeingozo

You can have dual tax residency, even triple or more tax residency, depending on the countries involved, and how long you spend in each one.

Can you have dual residency (not tax) ? It depends on the countries involved

Naz23

Hi
I thought that we would need dual residency. Id cards can wait then i guess. I am looking for a job now. I was a nanny back in the uk so i am going to find it hard finding something else here as i have no other qualifications. My other half has been offered to drive boats here as he is an RYA instructor.
Thanks for all this info its a great help xx

Well I first sent an email for an appointment on 5th Feb and still waiting, unless you count the one for Tuesday 11th May (the 11th May is a Saturday!)I've emailed every week since for clarification but now given up. When it finally gets sorted I will send the government a bill for over paid electricity and water (I can't get the domestic rate til I get my residency so have been paying domestic rate since December!)Hopefully people in my situation will do the same! Much as I love living here, the authorities don't make it easy!

Hi

Grizabella

Well first and foremost you need to stop sending multiple Emails. I did that once and it just jams up the system.

Most of the emails have been replied and alot of the people on this forum have started getting the appointments including me.

Here:- https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=253836

Just give it a few days and one of these days you're going to get a reply.

FYI - Also check your junk email -  Mine came through as junk.

Thanks

eResidence.mfa@gov.mt

Dear Sir,

Further to your request hereunder, and according to the Department of Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs, you may wish to note that the said department is preparing the files for printing.  You may collect your card next week from 172, Melita Street, Valletta on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

ricky

Hi Chad,

thanks for you update!

I just sent the same e-mail as you as I applied 4 weeks before you. I added that I hope to hear back soon as I will otherwise recommend all Expats to start e-mailing about the collection of their new e-residence cards if that is the way they want us to proceed !

I'll report back when I get a reply.

Cheers
Ricky

When we went the staff didn't know what day it was, never mind anything else!

Terry

Toon

so are we saying then that the expats know more than the dept for expats. laughable.

ricky

Hi Chad,

how long did it take for you to hear back from the department ? I havn't heard back from them yet!

Maybe your reply was a lucky one ?

Please let me know as I will let the e-mails loose if they ignore me ! I just need to know when to start .....

Cheers

Hi all,

the link to the online applications does not work any more :

Either to the old one or the newer one :

http://mhas.gov.mt/en/MHA-Information/S … dence.aspx

I'm not sure what that means ....I'm waiting for a reply about when and how to collect my e-residence card as I applied 14 weeks ago !

Maybe it is time for a big demonstration in Valletta! Would anybody else be in on this ? We would invite all our diplomatic officials and EU officials ....

I think it is time to step up the pressure ...

Cheers
Ricky

georgeingozo

the link has changed yet again !!! They've changed MHA to MHAS

Im for it !
Ricky, we also applied in January i wonder should i send an email as well?

ricky

Hi George,

thanks for the new link !

For me it is enough ! I'm trying to organize a demonstration in Valletta to support our issues.

Hopefully a few of our diplomatic representatives will be present.

I think it would be in 2 or 3 weeks if nothing changes. What do you think?

Cheers
Ricky

To be fair, the department seems to have improved quite a bit in the last week. I suspect any demonstration will be fobbed off with a "it's PN's fault"

ricky

Hi George,

maybe you are being to fair !

But you think that we should wait ? I know that someone who applied 4 weeks after me can collect his card next week ?

What kind of procedure is that ? To be honest I don't really care a cent as I have a valid Karte Anzjan and my partner (Non-EU) has the document stuck to her passport that is valid for another 18 months ....

I don't think it is fair on the new arrivals ....especially those from outside the EU .

I'm still in on a massive demonstration ...

Cheers

I agree Ricky....but my family member non EU does not have any stamps on the passport ....supposed the new card and valid passport is enough...am i right? That what i was told by the department :/

ricky

Hi Popova,

you should trust the department !

Why doesn't your non-EU family member have any stamps in the passport ? That is standard procedure entering the EU!

If your partner stays in Malta until the card is issued you should be ok ...

Passport is valid with a visa or with a residency document.

Hi Ricky,

The first 3 months he did not needed any visa, thus we proceed with issuing a residence card ( 3 years ago) and we got the card accordingly. Even when applying the first time , i had ask about the passport and the answer i got was  , no need of stamp , just the residence card ( stating non EU family member) and valid passport.......then...since the new card were introduced , we went to re- apply , hassling , etc again and the answer i got was the same as the first time we applied ( travels with the new card and valid passport) ...

Thanks Ricky for your comment. Also i am for making this issue public and demonstrative :)

Hi Popova,

if your partner has the residency through you for the past 3 years - whether with  or without the entry stamp - you are on the safe side!

For both of you it is just the re-application . Don't worry .

We have been on Gozo for six weeks and actually had the interview for the residency cards last week and also submitted our S1 form together with the temporary residence number to the Health Entitlement Office, everything went well. Can anyone advise me how long it takes to obtain the permanent card as Areeva does not accept the A4 paper our temporary number was issued. Also the council cannot now issue a pensioners travel card as the digits are different to the old system, wow you have to have a lot of patience, but we still keep on smiling
