Permanent Residence

Hi everyone!

I am from Pakistan coming to Germany in August for my Master's Degree. is it possible to get permanent residence after completion of my masters degree[ 2 years]??

If not, then what is the procedure of getting permanent residence in Germany?

Hi Hassan,

I think you must have worked (studying does not count as far as I know) in Germany for at least 5 years to be able to get permanent residency.

The rules are very complicated and your case must be looked at in all details to come to the correct conclusion. Thus please consult an immigration lawyer to get an answer for this.
Generally, studying alone does not give you permanent residence, but it might give you a three year work permit afterwards. But there are exceptions to all this, which might apply to you.
