Hi all bloggers
I will be arriving in Riyadh next week, and will be all alone, it would be great if someone could let me know about clubs etc in the area, and if anyone will take me under there wing to guide me around (let me know right from wrong!)as I settle in

Did I read it right? CLUBS???

I guess you need to spend some time on this site. There are absolutely NO clubs here.

Welcome aboard anyways, and soon to Riyadh too.

By clubs I meant something to do, do not just want to sit around I am into golf (badly) but having looked around it is expensive and do not mind going to the races now and again, or just somewhere to socialize and chat about what is best to do or not as the case may be

Thank you Shanno, I have no doubt that over the coming weeks I will have many questions, in order to understand the culture and etiquette of living and travelling in Riyadh and KSA generally

You know, it's surprisingly easy to fit in here.  You just have to understand (and accept) that things aren't ever done here in an efficient or timely manner.  You can't lose your cool--just be pleasant and smile and go with the flow.  SERENITY NOW!!!!!!

I fly from the UK tomorrow night to take up my new post in Jubail, after 4 month's of waiting!

I'm not sure what to expect either, but I'm sure it will be an experience! =)
