working with nice and professional people around you is such a nice environment to work with, teamwork will prosper. but, what if you have an officemate that feels and thinks himself as always better than any body else?
i am now on this situation, it feels like, every time i do something or tell something he always have everything to do about it and more about it, i feels like he always competing with me and trying to pretend that he is better than me even though i know he doesn't know my work technically although i admit i'm not good talker but i know my work, but every time he talks to the manager he tries to claim that he knows everything even my work.
it's getting to my nerves, but all i can do is ignored him, an empty can always makes the most noise... its true!

Dude ! Haven't we all expirenced tht to some degree in our professional lives ! Sigh!
But I know one thing if u r not a good talker then tht's an area u need to work on... communication and being able to present ur work is an important facet in corporate world.... This needs confidence and confidence wud come from knowing the work at hand throughly....
All u got is to keep doing ur job sincerely and when the oppurtunity comes to present....don't let go of it .... U can since u know it better...
And don't change ur real personality for anyone... job or money .. it isn't worth it... Just believe in ur work n urself... my friend...
as the song goes ... n be good for goodness sake .

No doubt there are too many square pegs in round holes in most offices in KSA who simply survive using the gift of their gab. Ive seen plenty of them through the decades.

kabayan, you are in a world of wolves and lions. if you cannot play the game, at least accept the fact that there is a game. :) i am experiencing that as well. but it doesn't get into me much, now, maybe i have taken down notes well, even before moving to this country where people talk more, drink chai and coffee more and chitchat more, than WORK, but they take all the credit. give them the credit, but always make sure that your work is visible to your boss/supervisor, otherwise, you might get fired because they might think you are not doing anything. :)

first motivation maybe, is to get back to your contract. it says there the salary you will receive, who you will report to, the tasks you will do, etc. i guess you were happy with it, that is why you signed and accepted.

now, it was not mentioned that you will be surrounded with wolves and vultures. that's fine. ignore them. as long as they are not stealing your salary, just do your job. you are not accountable to them anyway. :)

I heard this somewhere "If your presence can't add value to my life, your absence will make no difference". Print this in bold letters and post it in your cubicle. Also this: "Life is 10% what happened to you and 90% how you respond to it". :)

I agree with the guy above, that you have to hone the skills you are not good at, since you need them, but continue on the things you are already good at. :)

PM me for more :)

riyadh11 you are right. i noticed that also here.. more chai and coffee.

even though im not experiencing same situation with hardboiled still i need to be aware and do my part.

Remember,
If people are trying to bring you DOWN,it only means that you're above them.

@kymadoce: no matter how good you are, there will always be a bad ass that will try to pull you down so better to teach them where their rightful place is.

Sorry to disagree to the way the people are suggesting to accept and just let this happen....this is totally BS. You should know your duties and just do those, never do other's work...and the worst is they get the credit...WTF!! Remember in any working environment..always know your responsibilities...policies of the company....labor law of the country you are working...you should know these things and use this as a guide and think always....Save your own ass. Bear in mind...a cut throat attitude....nobody nice goes up the corporate ladder....what do you think it will be, a paradise?....I am sorry but wake up...good luck to you

Kymadoce

hmmm.... its an individual choice i guess.... but if it costs me to become someone i am not, to go up the ladder .... then i chose not to be tht person... someone else may chose differently...
and as much i m against changing ur basic self , i m too against being timid or afraid to let anyone else walk over u... with a false sense on justified pity.... but my retalliation is not hitting back below the belt but facing the person up face and as much as possible with greater ability then in anger...

jhang

i agree....
