police corruption

Post new topic

Fred

I've had minor problems with corrupt cops in the past but it's not been anything worse than a minor pain and just not worth the bother.

This time has really bugged me.
I'm in the very nice Aston hotel, wanting to visit Taman safari.
So far I can't because taxis won't  go.

Why?

Because corrupt cops demand bribes from them when they go there.

SBY has been doing a fine job but he's not cracked this one yet.

Thats not good. My house was burgled the other week and I lost a lot of things. The police wanted to come to the house but we had to pay them to visit, pay them to make a report and generally keep them sweet knowing full well, nothing will be done and nothing has been.
With Idul Fitry coming there will be lots more random police checks, on the roads, for money bribes and visits to places where expats work for 'mudik' money.

Such a shame as part of a countries reputation is the perception of the police.

I've found imigrasi to be corruption free of late but I'm reaaly miffed with the Bogor police this time.
we've tried hire car companies and, all things being well, we found one but it's taken all morning.

No wonder tourists avoid the country.
Pity really as Indonesia is a wonderplace place.

The Bogor police should be ashamed.
