dangerous water Las olas?

Does anyone know how dangerous the water is at Las olas?
Thinking of renting there, but someone told me heavy currents.

Well, in the last 5 years I heard about 3 or 4 accidents on that water, but all them where drunk!!!!

Is a very nice place to live but I recommend NOT og to the water with beers on the head. :-)

The ocean is pretty ruff and powerful here in Las Olas. You don't want to swim or go into the ocean.
