The best example of real love is between a dog and his/her human companion.

It exists, I am just not too sure where.  But, love is perfection.  It is unconditional and undying.

It is like defining porn. Hard to put in words, but you know it when you see it :).

Here is one which has been touching the Vietnamese hearts this week: a (divorced?) Dad taking care of his daughter, whom he does not get to see often, when she took a midday break between university entrance exams in Hanoi.

.........lol..........

@ baophuong: In my opinion, love is not always a long terms contract, it just happens for a moment sometimes. so if you keep doubting like this, you might miss the chance to feel your real love.

Hey Anatta, don't look in to dark side, think about this man, he got this bike long time ago, and now, they gone to join in a knock-out game together, the game, which he real believe that he win, but he could'n do that. Tomorrow wake up, he must come back home without the bike.

Sorry, didn't get what you meant by dark side?

The phrase "I know it when I see it" when it comes to defining porn was used by no less than the US Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart in a legal case.

As wikipedia puts it, the expression became one of the most famous phrases in the entire history of the Supreme Court.

In my experience Vietnamese and Westerns have a different intepretation of love.

Let me give you an example:

Why do you marry?

Vietnamese: Because I am in that age now. Let me see who could fit to me and marry him/her asap. I have to get marry because I do not want to get "e" (kind of: nobody wants you if you getting too old)

Western: Because I think he/she is the right one. And it doesn't matter if it takes eternities to find that person.

Am I right? What do you think about that?

Wild_1

Extasia,

I think that is a fairly accurate assessment.  I still see it in the people that I work with:  there is so little love among them, which directly goes into the appalling ways they handle their family matters.  :sick

nhung.scorpio90

I want to get married because I'd love to live with someone whom I'm in deep love with. I'll be single if there is no one like that ^^ Never live with 1 guy who doesn't care about my feeling, my love ^^

it's 'gals, take advantage of him'. That'd suit these days :D

@ extasia: ok, the clichee is oldschool. How do you define love among the society of vietnamese children born and raised in germany? I'll see it when I know it :D

extasia

Since I was born and grown up in Germany I am more western than vietnamese... But it is always funny when really EVERYBODY is asking about my age and the next question is always: Are you already married???

NOOO hell!! I am too young to marry and I do not want to marry your son/cousin/friend!! Haha for you the same rojamin?

Budman1

Having a mixed culture marriage that is going on it's 40Th year.

Anatta

Budman

Respect and kudos to you.

Budman1

Thanks Anatta, but my wife deserves all the kudo's and respect.

rojamin

LOL and how 'young' are you?
Apparently as males we, too, have things to be worried about rather than get married and settle life down that way (perhaps only the dependent desperate onces do). Unlike your imagination as from conservative oldschool view, vietnamese are nowadays under diversity of foreign impacts factually more realistic and pragmatic. It's likely that none of my old friends at my age are married, they spend time and money on their hobbies and to go travel. The younger females seem to be emancipate and independent at a very early stage, take part in all kinds of activities there are.

A lot of vietnamese born and raised in Germany tell me they're more western, in fact they're somehow very asian/vietnamese. I assume it depends on how close the relationship between parents and children is. All of my cousines in Germany speak vietnamese fluently like mothertongue, also the mixed ones, meanwhile many 100% vietnamese born in other families can't and prefer german, the language they speak most of the time at school or among eachother.

in short, we're merely products of our surroundings, and in this world today we can hardly generalise anything. Talking about LOVE, i'm realistic, pragmatic and greedy ;)

@ Budman: OMG happy 40th anniversary!!!

extasia

Nice conclusion rojamin :-) I agree with that.

(...younger than you, but after the vietnamese absolutely in the age to marry and get pregnant)

patutu

Real love maybe extinct :(
