Hello
planning to move to mauritius for a 2 year work assignemnt With family of two kids.(one school kinder garden and other toddler)
Might get around 60K per month?

What is the minimum i need for
1. rent
2. water+electricity+broadband+telephone (long calls to india)
3. grocery
4. travel to work and occasional outing
5. School for 1 english medium
6. Occasional medical (medicine cost + consultation)
7. Can we rent or buy two wheeler how much does it cost
8. Others that I might have missed

I typically save around 50000 INR in India what can I save more there or will it be just like an extended holiday

Hello Anandah,

50000 INR is slightly under 290000 MUR. (1 to 6 roughly).

A rent is between 10K to 20K MUR for a 3 bedrooms flat, generally furnished.

A bike can be bought for 10K.

Phone rates are just palin robbery, both local and international... Consider call back / call cards / VOIP solutions as a serious option.

Regarding groceries, as on an island, local products are cheap, but imported ones tend to be expensive. Depending of your style of food (european, asian, african...) the prices vary a lot.

I would say that your savings are enough to settle in Mauritius, and if you manage it well you'll have some change left!

Cheers, good luck!
