Hi all
I really hope someone can give me some details.  I am moving to Mauritius in Jan and will be needing to find a doctor and a decent hospital to have my baby in when its due in May.  I need to enquire about costs and details so would need the name of a hospital to begin with.  Any decent hospitals or doctors that I can contact?
Thanks

Anyone have the name of a decent private hospital in Mauritius?  Please, I need this info and the only people who know this are the people who live there and have experienced the hospitals in Mauritius.
Thanks

Hello again BroninDubai,

Yes I heard that Clinique Darné is a good one and there is also Apollo Bramwell which recently opened in Moka (but didn't see any feedback on their services and quality yet) and maybe Clinique du Nord in Baie du Tombeau.

However DO NOT expect anything near to what you know in Dubai as regards to a clean, hygenic medical facilities and till now I haven't really met very professional doctors here (sorry if I hurt the feelings of anybody here on the forum) with however one or two exceptions.

I don't want to scare you off but effectively we (I have been living 9 years in Khobar) have known much higher medical standards in the Gulf...

One of my Belgian friends left Mauritius recently because she was getting married and wanted to have a baby very soon and as she had a very bad medical experience here she did not want to take any risk for the future baby.

Of course some will reply that every days hundreds of babies are getting born in Mauritius without any problems.... but...

When is your baby due?

In my opinion..Apollo and Clinique Darne is recommended for sure!!
Cleanliness: 8/10
hygine: 8/10
Nurse facilities: 7/10

(PS: my personal experience)
Thanks & all the best!

I Suggest Clinic Bon Pasteur in Rose Hill. I had my baby there last year. Its clean, neat and good service. And what's more interesting is the maternity rooms, it look nothing like a hospital, the maternity rooms looks like Hotel room with King size bed, warm colored wall, Sofa and my husband even stayed back with me for the night. Totally relaxing with ensuite bathroom.

Looks more than a hotel than a hospital. Perfect for New moms.

My wife and I had a session with Dr. Mario, very professional gaen. Totally comfortable and he recommended Bon Pasteur. I am absolutely comfortable with him. Am glad to hear your comments about the rooms looking like hotels and I am able to stay with my wife overnight. Thanks all for your comments. I was planning on flying my wife to SA. Now am grounded!
