Does anyone know if there's a channel on tv in HCMC area that airs the Olympic games? Thanks!

leekhoa

almost  there isn't a channel on the tv in HCM area that  airs  Olympic games .

I'm assuming that means no?  I'll check out the article.

I realise it's not TV but WIRED.COM had an article of watching via the InterNet.

VTV is carrying the Olympics.

ESPN - < http://www.espnstar.com/tv-listings/region1/day1/ >

YouTube channel < http://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-to-live … nel/166482 >

You can try the old Canadian trick when they broadcast hockey games on the French TV network and on the English radio network.

Tune your TV to VTV and then listen to English language sound from the streaming feed,

This morning Star Sports had the ceremonies, so I'll keep an eye on that and ESPN (I didn't know I had ESPN).  One of the other channels has the gymnastics and other sports...from the Beijing Olympics!  THere's one channel which has the soccer games, but I don't care about that.  The BBC would be great, but for some reason I can never access anything past their main page.

You have to remember that geography plays a large part in what you can see and where.

The IOC considers VN to be a have not country so we get access to YouTube streaming. Only VTV is carrying the Olympics on terrestrial TV.

DON'T know what's with your BBC feed (there is BBC.COM and BBC.CO.UK) but I just checked my VNPT feed and I can go all over the BBC site.

Switched to our satellite InterNet feed and the access in HongKong (where it is fed from) is identical to VN.

Could you be on FPT - they're known for kissing the censors you now what.

Yeah, sure.  I know I'm not in the states where every sport is aired.  Thankfully this isn't hte winter Olympics which I'm glued to. :Đ  No idea about the BBC thing either.  Kind of annoying.  I'll search for this VTV channel.  Have no idea what FPT is, but I know lots of other acronyms. kaka

For sporting events there's always the Boston Sports Bar.  They're open 24/7 and have several TV's.  It is in the "Unholy Trinity" of Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao and DeTham though, which makes it even better, because there's entertainment both inside and out.

I've had problems accessing the BBC's website in the past and had a debate with my British friends over whether or not it was blocked.  Yesterday I couldn't access the site, today I can.

That doesn't bother me, but not being able to access The Voice of America's website is much worse.  The block on their site seems to be a rolling one, as well.

Thanks, but I'm stationed in Bien Hoa now. :Đ  If I'm still here come the next Winter Olympics, I'll have to take this much more seriously!

I have been to Boston Sports Bar. I counted 3 small tv's there, it is quite the opposite of what a sports bar is meant to be lol it's the only place that is open 24/7 that i know of ...

I didn't see any of the Olympics on the VTV channels today, ESPN & STAR are your best bets to watch the Olympics ...

I remeber there being at least 5 or 6 TV's, including the one's that were outside.he Super Bowl was the event, however, so they may have added TV's

There was also a loud mouthed, drunken American there that was giving "John the Baptist", as I call him, a hard time.  The street preacher scared the sh!t out of everybody, except me, because he screamed "JESUS!"  "ONE DAY YOU DIE; KICK BUCKET!"  "YOU GO HEAVEN THEY TELL YOU NO, GO AWAY!"  I saw him coming ,while everyone else had their eyes glued to the TV.  My fellow Ameriucan took exception to being scared and started bad mouthing him.  I shut him up quickly, because "John the Baptist" did some time from 75-79.  I suspect that's where he found Jesus.

That event alone made it the best sports bar I've ever been too.

They are open 24/7, as are a few other establishments in the backpacker area.

ESPN - HIghlights when there are no events.  Live from 3 PM

It may be too late, but one solution is streaming.
The Norwegian broadcaster NRK is streaming the Olympics on 7 channels.

http://www.nrk.no/ol2012/

The thing is you need to have a Norwegian IP to be able to watch it.
To do so, you need to subscribe to a VPN provider with Norwegian IP, like this one

ZERO medals for VN this time around.:sosad:

In 2008 VN received Silver Medal in weight lifting. In 2000 VN received Silver Medal in Tae Kwon Do.

What happened? Either VN talent has reduced to slim pickin' or the competition has gotten much harder.
