Researching Opportunities in Sri Lanka

Post new topic

@mariposaa

Hello! I am a Canadian female presently living in South Korea. Last month I finished up a literacy and nutritional program for street children in Guatemala CA. I returned to Korea looking for an interesting position as an ESL/EFL teacher. Nothing has tugged at my heart. A friend suggested checking out Sri Lanka and my heart fluttered so now I am researching possibilities.

Thanks maradona812010,

Yes, I am aware of that. I am looking at opportunities in Sri Lanka as mentioned in my post. :)Anyone with leads or offers please post or PM me.

I would love to hear from English teachers or Canadians who can direct me.

I have no idea for jobs but I am in Canada and if you settle in Sri Lanka I would like to read about your experiences...

Good Luck

Mariposaa, my advice would be simply to take the plunge and fly to Sri Lanka!

There are very cheap places to stay, especially out of Colombo, I would suggest you start with somewhere like Hikkaduwa Beach, where you could stay for around $8-10 per day in a non-a/c room, and that is where you will meet so many people, many of whom will be able to direct you towards NGO's that can possibly employ you, as an English teacher.

You can also google NGO's working in Sri Lanka to improve literacy, and write to them.

It really is a wonderful country, I wish you luck!

Sam.
