Moving to Malta as an entrepreneur?

Post new topic

SailAway

HI everybody,

I am new in this forum.
I am currently living in Denmark (and am a EU-citizen.)
I would like to move to Malta as it is warmer and the tax is lower than in Denmark.
I have read a lot of threads in this forum about how to get work in Malta, but what if you are an entrepreneur? - How can you move a business or start up a business in Malta?
Do you need to prove how much you make from your business before you are allowed to move?
Actually, I thought that as an EU-citizen you where allowed to move freely in EU, but it seems that isn't true...

Hi SailAway,

welcome to the forum.

Any EU citizen can move to Malta (and or any other EU country) if they can support themselves and won't fall back on the social security systems of their host country.

I'm not sure what entrepreneur means in your case ? Do you already have a business that you want to transfer to Malta or are your thinking of starting a business in Malta? As you are thinking of tax questions I presume that you have a good income so you should not have a problem.

All you have to show when you apply for residency is either that you have a job or money to support yourself if you are still looking for a job or starting a business.

Cheers
Ricky

It is true, as long as you can prove you won't be a financial burden in the new country, which means having health cover and sufficient financial resources to live on. Hi Designs,

and the information provided by Goerge applies to EU citizens.

The situation for non-EU /third country nationals is very different.
