If you want a house....then plan to spend minimum $2,000. Most serviced apartments, like you described, are at minimum $2, 400. I would try to join the YEC group (Yangon Expat Communnity) which is a g-mail group. It's for expats living in Yangon and there are often housing adverts listed. If you're happy to live downtown, rent is less.
