I've always been interested in calligraphy. Now that I'll move to Vietnam, i would like to study Vietnamese calligraphy in my freetime.

Does anybody of you know if there are Vietnamese calligraphy classes offered in Saigon? If so, where? And who should I contact to take part in them?

Go to the Youth cultural center at 04 Phạm Ngọc Thạch, D1 and ask the contact of Câu lạc bộ Thư Pháp Nét Việt (Vietnamese-style Calligraphy Club). They normally have meeting at 2PM every Sunday.

There are classes other places as well but not in downtown.

BTW, if you mean just classes to write beautifully (penmanship), there are classes for that too. There is one next to Nhà thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn teaching people penmanship, though you'll find your classmates mostly 5-12 years old .

Haha, nooo.. i meant "real" vietnamese calligraphy. Thanks for your hint on the Vietnamese-style Calligraphy Club!!! I will definitely try that! :-)

There was a place on Bui Vien offering classes. I'll go by there tomorrow and see if they're still in business.
