Political and geographical divisions of Cuenca

This one is going to be a doozy peeps. If a blogger is talking too much smack at the Coffee tree regarding their knowledge of Ecuadorian culture, you can test them on their knowledge of this material, which we will develop during the course of the coming weeks.

Let's get started at the highest political level.

Ecuador is divided into 24 provinces. Here is a map of those provinces:

Stay tuned for future updates.

In case you didn't already know what province Cuenca is in..........

It was brought to my attention by Vinny66 that the top map of the provinces is old because it is missing the provinces of Santa Elena and Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas.

Therefore, I am posting a new map that includes those provinces. I was actually going to post this map first, but since it had a bunch of radio station logos on it, I wasn't going to use it.

Maybe this one is easier to read.

Oh, and by the way each of these last two maps show the administrative capital of each province. In the case of Azuay, the capital is Cuenca.

yes, is a big problem in Ecuador to find good maps of the country, the provinces or even the cities.
I now they have good ones now in the Tourist office in downtonw.
I was able to get one from Latacunga,El Oro, Machala.... They didnt' exist few years ago.
Even if you look in Google maps or Mapquest the maps are lame and old.
