Australian visas are handled through an outsourcing agency, not by the embassy. Go to Google, type "Australian visa in Dubai" and wait for the magic to happen.

Tourist or business visa?

i  want  to get  tourist  visa

1. Visit http://www.vfs-au-gcc.com
2. Book an appointment with AVAC at the above website
3. Download form 48R from above site
4. Visit AVAC in Dubai (see number 6)
5. Submit your application form with the following documents:
    - passport
    - copy of resident card
    - copy of labor card
    - visa fee 460AED
    - recent photograph 45mmX35mm
    - bank statement (6 months)
    - letter from your company stating employment status and leave duration
    - hotel reservation
    - travel insurance
    - flight reservation
    - travel itinerary in Australia
    - certified copy of marriage certificate ( if married). Necessary to proof ties to home country or to UAE
    -  certified copy of birth certificate ( not sure)
6. Visit Australian Visa Application Centre
    Wafi Mall, 2nd Floor, Falcon, Phase 2
    Umm Hurair 2 – Dubai – UAE

    Google Map GPS Coordinates : 25.229167,55.318611
7. Enquire at AVAC about other documents you'd need to submit.

How long do i have to wait after lodging an application? i already applied for a tourist visa last July 12, 2015 but up until now i haven't heard anything from them regarding the status of my application.
