I have heard that if your degree couldnt get verified by the insitution where u studied , u might end up in prison .. is it right ?

In some countries yes in other no. I think in Saudi you will not set a foot there again. You will be simply deported.

Degree attestation does not simply involve a verification by the institution, but an authentication by the government of the country where the certificate was issued.

For instance, if your degree is from UK, you have to first make a notarised copy, that is then sent to the Foreign Commonwealth Office for verification and then to the embassy of the country where the certificate needs to be used.

This is a costly procedure, around 200 GBP per document. Document in English do not require a translation, but from other languages yes. The translation has to be done just before embassy attestation, otherwise the gov stamp won't be translated, hence the doc will be void.
