My dear friends,

My flatmates and I are planning to buy a washing machine, because our landlords doesn't trust anyone come to work in our house.

So the first question is: where is the best place to buy a washing machine?
How much is a cheap one?
Secondly, I've been told that the frequent power cut in Nairobi might damage the machine. Did it ever happen to you? Is it really that common?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

You can buy a washing machine from any supermarket and hotpoint in Sarit Centre. They range from 39-60k depending on size. You will need a power guard which costs between 3-5k. This will protect the machine from power surges. Power cuts are frequent because of ongoing road construction and Kenya Power upgrading lines, so it advisable to buy a power guard to protect your machine.
