Gourmet is one of the safest place to shop for food, but has limited amount of stuff. Pork meat is not available there. Otherwise, there is a shop in Maadi where they sell imported German sausages.

Halwani is really a good brand in Egypt

in my opinion the brand name "swiss choice" is the best brand for sausages/hotdogs found in the frozen section of spinneys and carrefoure..it has the natural casing.

..its the closest to a NY hotdog i could find. and i really miss them :-( lol   helwani is a good brand i just dont like their hotdogs.

i just tried swiss choice - bought it from carrefour maadi..it's a bit expensive from other brands,but more tasty with no more herbs or oregano.

yes i agree it is a bit more expensive but with sausages its worth it. i hate to think what part of the beef is in the ones with less cost LOL. i like that swiss choice has small ones and longer ones. :-P

what's your favorite brand of Burger in the frozen section?
is it swiss choice also?

no im in hurghada but spinneys  here is nicer than carrefoure in maadi, i dont like the way the meat dept. smells. i only go when i get to cairo.

for burgers i make my own but sometimes use halwani bros. mince because it doesnt have the pink dye that the mince sometimes has added to it. i dont like that. im picky with meat lol

actually i think i did try that too is it in a white plastic box? there was one good one but now i dont know what brand it was. yeah in the US we love burgers lol and hotdogs. the best is to buy good mince and make them yourself and cook over a grill of coals really.. a Barbeque. much like the kofta. i also think burger king is better than mcdonalds just sayin' LOL
