Hi  Expat friends malta
I am new here. I am thai in Thailand. I have plan to bring my son 14 yso and my daughter 12 yso to private school in Pembroke  where I made contract by email in year 2013. I 'd would like to know for my visa . What type of visa I have to apply  for us  because in my country we have to apply malta visa at Austria Console, that 's means I can apply just type C visa not for type D or after I get type C in my country I able to convert our visa in malta.  Also do my child need to buy the Health insurance ?

Regards

Mo

Hi Mo,

welcome to the forum.

You do not really give enough information to say much about your options.

A Schengen visa Type C is basically a tourist visa and allows you to stay for 90 days . It cannot be extended.

Under what categorie would you apply for a longstay national visa ( Type D) in Malta ? I presume you are economically self-sufficient to pay for your residency and your kids and all other costs otherwise it would be difficult.

You would all need health insurance in Malta to apply for residency.

Cheers
Ricky
