Moving to Bangkok ???

Post new topic

mangot

Hi there !

I will probably have a job offer from my company to move to Bangkok and I would like to have more information about the life there before making any decision

I have never been to Asia before so I really don't know what to expect...

If you have any info, advises, tips... it could be very useful.

Thank you
Look forward to hear from you

i don't know your lifestyle. but my expat friend lives a reasonably good life alone with her 2 cats and spend no more than $2,000 a month here in bangkok. that's already include the condo rental :)

if you can enjoy the local food and product, you'd spend no more than $700 a month for food & necessities (excluding the accommodation.) let's say, it'd cost you $3 - $4 a meal inside the city. (it can be as low as $1 a meal for the street vendor food, but it may not be so hygiene.)

for accommodation, it depends on the location. the rent for a fair condo is about $400 - $500 a month in a fair & safe location. but if you want to live in the city center, the rent is about $1,000 or higher.

traveling cost is something to consider. but it isn't that high. i personally travel a lot by taxi and train (BTS or MRT), but i spend no more than $500 a month for traveling. (if the traffic is not too bad, it'd cost no more than $5 dollar for taxi fare within the distance of 10 kilometers.)

hope this helps.

Hi,

Yes it helps a lot
Thanks for the info
By the way I would also like to have an idea of the lifestyle there and what you think about living there....
I've never been to Asia and I really don't know what to expect... It is kind of scary so I really don't know if I will accept the offer or not...

Thanks

Hey Mangot! I am also new in Bangkok. I am doing an internship here! When do you move here? Let's discover Bangkok together!:)

Hey Skonrad,

How long is your internship ?
When did you arrive in Bangkok ?

I am currently in the USA and I will probably be there around January or February ...
It would be nice to discover the city with you if you are still there at this time

How do you like Bangkok so far ??
