Issue with finding a suitable school place

Hi,
We have only just arrived in Kuwait and after 2 sets of assesment/entrance tests at one of the British Schools (I don't want to name it in case I offend anyone), we have been told that my son is too weak in Maths to be given a place. He does need a little bit of support in class, although has progressed well in the UK mainstream system. I am now panic stricken, as I don't know where to turn/which schools are 'inclusive' of children who have differing abilities. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there,

If your kid has been progressing well in the UK as you are saying, then I dont think there is a problem with the kid, rather the school. Maybe he doesnt like the teachers that took him to the test. Moving and changing environments can be hard enough for a grown up. Maybe he is not coping well..

Did you say you went through two sets of tests? You redid the tests and still they said that?

I just find it hard to believe that the schooling standard in Kuwait can be in any way better or higher than it is in the UK. Nomatter what the name of the school is. The country would have looked different. This cant be.

Im so sorry you are going through this. Its tough. But still, i think the problem is in the school not your kid. And if it was the kid, then it can be so many things. If he was progressing fine in the UK, he should be having no problems in Kuwait..
