hi, i am a newly qualified nurse and would like to live and work in gibraltar. Please can you advise how you went about getting this job and the procedure e.g. interview etc. Also are you newly qualified? Thanks so much for all your help !

I've worked in NHS for 12 years,I emailed the Gibraltar Health Authority direct if you google the name you'll find their direct website. My application  pack and application has all been done over e mail but they have an excellent HR dept.I went to London to the embassy for my interview, and was interviewed by head of nursing and head of HR,it was quite a relaxed process to be honest and feel they are really interested in you as a person and what you can offer them.Im a children's nurse and I know the children's ward is a lot smaller than where I'm used too,if you are adult trained it might be worth researching what wards are available at St Bernards and there's stuff on the Internet about the hospital.Good luck.

good luck! yes many thanks, I have 10 years experience as a nurse auxiliary so have come in to nursing a bit late. Thanks for you help, I spoke with GHA and they said they may consider taking me on as newly qualified due to my background, just to keep looking. I do not qualify till end of july, pin hopefully by sept so will keep checking. Worse case scenario will have to work here for a year then apply!
Also if you do not mind, is your job permanent, as on the website they mention contracts? just a bit scary to relocate if they do not offer permanent posts!
many thanks again, good luck and keep in touch... my e-mail is 10013335@live.napier.ac.uk   THANKS

my contract is initially 8 months but will know early on if will be permanant so can make plans if need be,i think its a good idea to try and get some experience  qualified but with jobs in the uk you just dont know at the moment!Im learning spanish too so hope to go to spain at some point to work but ive heard good things about gibraltar so may just stay there.Having a background in auxillary work as well can only go in your favour too though.
