I am retired and wandering around Ecuador, at the moment in Guayaquil. I plan on going to Salinas from here and then maybe up to Cuenca. I have no set plans and am just making my way by letting it happen. I would like to spend some time maybe in Cuenca, as the town has peeked my interest from all I have read. I would like to know how I could get in touch with some expats, maybe at a coffee shop or some such place, to get some guidance on where to stay and what to see. I am from the Arizona desert area and thinking about making a change. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Phil

Hey Phil,
I'm not in Ecuador right now, but I would suggest you visit the Gringo Tree site. There are active posts on the site that have the names of the places, and the times, that Gringo's meet in the area. One of the popular places is California Kitchen. If you were to go to the You Tube site, and type in Ca. Kit., you will see much about them, the location, hours of service, etc.
Hope you are enjoying your travels. Mayhaps we'll hook up some time. I think I'm returning this June.
