Read, listen, write and immitate that's what I always told my students when I'm still and english teacher.

TQ So much

Do as much as you can every day in English. Read websites, online newspapers in English, watch western TV channels, listen to western music and English language radio stations. Write daily. Speak in English. You need to try not to think in Indonesian but in English but that takes a long time.
PM me if you have questions.

laura121bell

TQ, luke. I will try your suggest:)

Fred

Android has a "tune in radio"  app.
Lots of English stations there.

Surfmusic is on the internet and offers about the same.

Fred

BBC podcasts allows you to download radio from the UK.

You're most welcome but always remember the message in my first post of this thread.
That's the key.

laura, u might laugh but that works very well, watch the cartoon in english, they use very easy and correct english

Britboy

One thing you can do for fun and speaking English fluently is to find a foreigner friend and get on voice + message chat or on skype. You'll improve very quickly, I bet.

I started with  simple old music from 60's and 70's era... It was when I about 13 years old..

the songs were simple and easy to follow (listening and speaking).... then I translated them to Bahasa Indonesia (writing and understanding)... I did it in continuing steps to many kinds of popular music in my era ... I found it as a very easy method to learn English. Hope it works

catur

And yes... a native English speaker bf will improve your skills very fast.

it is the funniest and most interesting way to boost our speaking skills

Epicuriousannie

Tq Shopie, i love to but, my english not fluently:(

I have a strategy, but it depends on you whether you will take it or not. but i think this strategy is a little crazy to do. hehe.
if i were you, what i will do is practice to speak english a lot, although you have to speak to your own self. may be other people will think that you're crazy cz you're talking with your own self, but there's no limitation in practicing to speak any languages.
that's my opinion. thanks. :)

Tt's imporant to speak and try to think in English is the key. Thinking in Indonesian and then speaking in English is not the way. Because it comes out wrong and hilarious at times, I apologize to those I laughed at, but it's all in good spirit. It helps to relax the person trying to learn.

adhityawardhana

you did??
good..then just keep doing it..hehe..
but, you can also ask your friends to help you in practicing..
just keep speaking and don't be shy..:)

Try to write a small paragraph, maybe containing 3-5 sentence EVERYDAY in English - about anything you like. You'll get more confidence in a month.

DWSA

Listening to your favorite band in English ! that works really fast for me :)

Just speak... But speak with people
1. who admire your mistake,
2. who can help you to move forward,
3. and who can make you comfort to speak

Don't worry about your mistake. Just try to follow somebody style.
When i am speaking bahasa Indonesia.... i don't worry about my mistake.
But the people are understanding... what i want.

sweetyen

i think listen to your fav music in english that can make you more enjoy and more fast learn & speak english :-) and try to read your fav books, newspaper or magazine in english as well :-)
good luck!
