I guess, after reading the thread on cost of living in TZ, I should know more about what salary or return an expat can expect even though I know this is a highly subjective matter. Let's take an example to make the case easy for those of you in the know. What would an expat construction engineer with field experiences in different levels of construction and construction management normally get?

USD 50 k up to USD 80 k offshore + full expat package,
The compensation is depending on the experience ,position,education and nationality.

Are you sure that isn't a very high sum? Nevertheless, let me take this as a starting point to go ahead with.

Engineer graduated in a reputable university with min 5-6 year experience will not agree for a salary less than USD 5 k / month = 60 k / year

The old guys with more than 20 year professional experience are expecting some times
more than 100 k.......

Ofcourse if the employer is a normal , international well-established company .
If you apply by some local arab or indian family company in TZ thay will not pay you more than 3 k/month and also will not provide you a suitable expat package , probably you will have also problems with the work permit and residence visa.
